I understand that applying to the program does not guarantee my student an interview or placement and that all hiring decisions are at the sole discretion of the employers.

I understand that my student’s Youth Apprenticeship Program application which includes contact information will be shared with employers.

I understand that my student needs to be on track for graduation, have good attendance and behavior records to be eligible and remain in the program.

I understand that this is my student’s experience and will empower them to take ownership of this professional journey and communicate directly with the employer and YA Coordinator

Program Authorization 5(Required)

I understand that the student and I are responsible for transportation to any off-campus Youth Apprenticeship-related activities, courses, and to the workplace.

Program Support Requested

We understand the importance of your involvement, and request your commitment and agreement to support in the following ways:

Remind the student to regularly check their email and voicemail for communication from the YA Coordinator and/or potential employers.
Encourage the student to prepare and dress appropriately for interview requests. Resources are available on our website YAWISCONSIN.org or your student can also work directly with their YA Coordinator.
Reinforce with the student that they are the future employee and that it is not appropriate nor the responsibility of you as their parents/guardian to make phone calls or send emails on their behalf. Employers are far more impressed when the students are advocating for themselves and demonstrating initiative along the professional journey.
Prompt your student to direct questions, employment leads or updates regarding their employment status with their YA Coordinator.
Celebrate and encourage them along the way.
